Personal Statement

Since an adolescent, I was always curious of the unknown. I have always found passion in learning new things and sharing them to others around me. My HBCU has provided me with a journey that has impacted my life, bringing many ups and downs, ultimately allowing me to find my true passion in teaching. Winston Salem State University has provided me the proper training in biological sciences that has prepared me with the foundation that is needed to take the next the steps in my career as a high school teacher.

I was always one that wanted to be the first one to help, or make sure that people were directed in the appropriate manner. Growing up in an immigrant family, I quickly realized the importance of education. This led to my desire to want to use education as a tool to impact future leaders. Therefore, my freshman year, I was granted an opportunity to work with the Winston Salem State University Campus Ambassador program. This experience allowed me to build relationship, gain new perspectives on communities and most importantly, set the stage for future scholars of WSSU.  This program has instilled in me the importance of impacting the lives of people.

My ultimate goal in life is to become an educator. As an educator, I will apply the broad understanding of biology to my teaching experience. In my classroom, I will focus on building a foundation for every student. To ensure that my students are building a foundation, I will stress organization, study skills, note taking skills, asking questions and creating study groups. I believe that the next generation is the future of tomorrow. As a future teacher, I am determined, excited, and optimistic about having the opportunity to help even one person become a better them academically.

For the future, I hope that I accomplish my goals to help and I am able to impact at least one person. I do believe that if in one class one is able to create a foundation, then those habits will be taken with them in all classes that will then be translated in college. As a result, I do believe that there will be more people accomplishing their true goals.
